Log homes have a lot of maintenace to them.  Logs decay with time, compression, exposure to organic substances (bacteria, wood destorying molds and fungi), exposure to UV light, and of course, water.  Owners of log homes should have annual home maintenance inspections to keep on top of any issues that may be coming along.
